Special Education Hockey

Join Wilmette Jr. Trevians Special Education Hockey Director Michael Strening and Coach Bill Norberg for our special education hockey program. We are looking to bring the great game of hockey to any child, aged 4-21, who presents with autism to developmental delay to behavior disorder and on through to cognitive impairment.

Ages

Participation is cross categorical - any student aged 4 - 21 who presents with autism to developmental delay to behavior disorder and on through to cognitive impairment.

When

Due to unexpected scheduling conflicts, the Special Education hockey program will not be offered during the Fall and Winter months. Please check back in Spring '22!

Clinic Framework

There will be no hockey scrimmages or formally constructed games during the clinics, only skill building exercises and activities/games. Depending on the disabilities involved, lighting, noise level, and equipment can be adjusted on a per session/participant basis.

The number of participants will be capped at 10 per session.

For Spanish dominant participants instruction will be provided in Spanish.

Jerseys and Equipment

Hockey jerseys and socks will be provided by the Junior Trevians.

Loaner equipment and skates are available through the Special Education Hockey Director at no charge to any participant (please note that equipment loan is predicated on equipment availability).
