Mini Mites House Hockey
Mini Mites House Hockey is our introductory hockey program for girls and boys ages 4 and 6 years with little to no hockey experience, but do have prior experience skating. During the season, we help kids improve their skating, shooting, passing, and stickhandling. Most of all, we have fun!
Mini Mites is not, however, a learn to skate program. If your child does not know how to skate, we recommend the Wilmette Park District skating classes.
Ages
The Mini Mite program is designed for children ages 4 to 5 years with little to no prior experience playing hockey. After a year of Mini Mites, these kids will usually be ready to play in the Mite House program.
When
The Mini Mite season runs from the second weekend in September through the end of February.
Evaluations will be September 10th. Season will start the weekend of September 17th.
Where
Skills and cross-ice or studio ice games are usually held at Centennial Ice Rink in Wilmette.
Practices
Each week throughout the season, skills sessions are held on Saturday. Generally these sessions will be in the morning.
Games
Each week throughout the season, games against other Mini Mite House teams will be held on Sundays. Games are 3 vs. 3 on the studio ice or cross-ice on the main rink. Games are 50 minutes long with a running clock and line shifts changing every 2 minutes.
Generally these sessions will be in the morning, but times do vary.
Jerseys
If a player does not have a reversible (blue and white) Wilmette Jr. Trevians hockey jersey they will be provided one that will be used for games and practices. Each player will also receive a pair of grey socks to be used for practices and games.
